Tips on Your Civic Engagement

1. Become informed and vote.  Voting is a right, a privilege and many consider it to be a civic responsibility.  Our government officials at all levels are elected by its citizens, and those public officials affect every aspect of our lives, from schools to basic services, health care and public safety.
   
   
2. Get more involved.  By voting, you are making your voice be heard.  It’s even better if you can go beyond this most basic level of engagement to use your knowledge about the candidates and the issues to get more involved.  There are so many ways to do this that include party affiliation, as well as non-partisan groups that advocate for issues you believe in.
   
   
3. Get to know and support women candidates.  While politics has traditionally been dominated by men and change is occurring slowly, women are running for office in record numbers.  Just as with everything else, it’s important for women to support each other.  Think about working on a campaign, holding a fundraiser and doing whatever you can to advance women in public office.
